SACO – With black Friday in the rear view mirror and cyber Monday staring us in the face, the holiday seasons are in full swing. Many people are looking for the right gift idea or for a unique way to remind a loved one they are thinking of them. The Maine Cancer Foundation and the organizers of Mary’s Walk and the Kerrymen Pub 5k are hoping that runners and walkers alike will think of them this holiday season and sign up for the this year’s race and walk.
The event turns 16 this year and if the turnout last year is any indication, runners and walkers will fill the streets of Saco on Sunday, March 16.
Event organizers are hoping that many people will support the fight against cancer in Maine on March 16 in Saco, Maine. Don’t forget, the first 300 registered Walkers and 300 registered Runners will receive a free event shirt!
“It started out simply and has grown every year,” said Gene Libby, whose wife, Mary, died from cancer and provided the inspiration for the event. “The event has come to mean so much for so many, and for that we are all grateful.”
Race and walk organizers expect a good turnout again this year and are encouraging people to sign up early for the event and even as the snow starts to fly, think about the spring to come and the fight against cancer in Maine.
